RAMEN READY is an English-language guide to ramen, everyday Japanese at the counter, and local food across Japan. It is published and operated by samuraimacho studio.

Use the ramen style finder to explore your tastes, practise ordering with our Japanese phrase lessons, and compare the food traditions in all 47 prefectures. Our aim is to make the next food stop easier to understand and more enjoyable.

Meet the guide

Samurai Macho is our fictional illustrated guide. His food journeys are original AI illustrations, not records of restaurant visits or photographs of dishes served by a particular business. Photographs used elsewhere carry source and license information in our photo credits and encyclopedia image credits.

How we prepare the guide

We draw on official tourism, food-culture and restaurant sources and provide links where readers can check them. We distinguish sourced facts, practical suggestions and illustrations. We do not claim first-hand visits or tasting experience when we do not have that evidence.

Restaurant details can change. Check the named branch directly for opening hours, ingredients, allergies, dietary suitability, prices and reservations. Our editorial policy explains verification limits and commercial separation.
