Chashu

チャーシュー

Sliced or chunked meat supplies a contrasting texture and its own seasoning. Pork is common, while some menus specify chicken or other meats.

What to notice

The word chashu alone is not a complete ingredient or cooking-method description. Marinades also matter.

Try it with your next bowl

Try a small piece on its own and then with noodles. Notice fat, tenderness and the balance of seasoning.
